The Maternity Agreement Master Template is the exact agreement I’ve built over 15 years of private bookings, ready for you to fill in, tailor to the job and make your own.

You're living in their home, doing the night feeds, and wondering how on earth to bring it up without it getting awkward.
Three weeks early or ten days late, and suddenly every date you agreed is wrong. Who pays for what now?
Just the older sibling too. Just one more week. Just skip your break today. It adds up, and there's nothing in writing to point back to.
A longer placement, a new location, different hours. And you go along with it, because what else can you do?
Same family, same booking, completely different job. Different kit, different packing list, different terms. And an agreement (if you had one) that no longer fits.
None of them were made for the job you actually do.
here's the thing…
You're the professional. And in private work, you're also the HR department, the negotiator and the one who has to have the awkward conversation.
15 years & counting
been there, signed thatI've spent 15 years as a private maternity nurse, working with high-profile families here in the UK and all over the world.
It took me years to build the confidence to put a proper, detailed agreement in front of a client. And I still adapt it for every single job: the baby's age, twins or singletons, where we're travelling, nights only or full 24-hour care, and making sure I actually get my breaks.
"A clear agreement isn't a wall between you and the family. It's what lets you relax and do the job you love."
This isn't something I've pulled off Google or churned out with AI. It's my own agreement, tested on real bookings with real families. I made it because I want to see maternity professionals stand up for themselves. You're not "just" the loving pair of hands. You're a professional running a business, and you deserve to charge what you're worth and stick to your terms.
My own agreement, built and rebuilt over 15 years. 20 sections covering the things that actually come up in this job, ready for you to fill in and make your own.
This is the real first page, exactly as you'll receive it. Everything in red is yours to fill in or change, so you always know what to tailor for each booking.
The other 22 pages follow the same clear layout, section by section.

The Client wishes to engage the Maternity Nurse to provide professional maternity support for the care of their newborn child/ren. The Maternity Nurse agrees to provide these services on the terms and conditions set out below.
1. Engagement and Term
1.1 The Client engages the Maternity Nurse to provide maternity nursing services commencing on insert start date for a period of insert booking length (the 'term').
1.2 If the baby arrives earlier than expected, both parties agree to communicate promptly and regularly regarding any necessary adjustments to the booking. The Maternity Nurse endeavours to be flexible to start earlier if needed but unless covered under a retainer this is per their discretion and dependent on their current commitments.
1.3 If the baby arrives later than expected, or the Maternity Nurse is not needed due to an extended hospital stay, then the contract is still set to begin from the date stipulated in section 1.1.

Yes, honestly, that's exactly who it's for. Everything is laid out in sections, so you're filling in and choosing, not writing from scratch.
No. I'm not a solicitor, and the template is based on my own professional experience. I'd always recommend having it reviewed by a qualified solicitor before you use it with a client.
Yes. The template has sections marked in red where you fill in the location of the booking and which country’s law the agreement falls under, so you can adapt it for jobs in the UK or abroad. If you’re unsure about the rules in a particular country, it’s worth checking with a local solicitor.
That’s up to you. If you do go with theirs, use my template as your checklist. Read their agreement side by side with mine and make sure every clause that matters to you is included, from pay and cancellation to your breaks, and ask for anything missing to be added before you sign.
Straight away. It’s an instant download, so you could have it filled in and in front of a client today.
